Gertrude Plummer Hawkins, 98, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Gertrude was the twelfth of thirteen children born to George and Harriet Frazier Plummer in Stewartown, MD on February 18, 1919.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Hawkins for over 63 years. Gertrude excelled in school and graduated from Bowie State Normal School (now Bowie State University) in 1940 with a degree that most teachers earned. Later, she earned a Bachelor's Degree from Antioch College.

Gertrude was also a devoted member of Goshen United Methodist Church, where she served in several offices. She was very active with the church and community associations until her health failed. Gertrude was like a mother and grandmother to many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly..
