Dorothy L. Thomas, wife of the late Louis Thomas and daughter of the late Lester Timbers and Della Johnson was born April 29, 1928,
and departed this life on Friday, October 6, 2017. Dorothy, affectionately called " Dot" by close family members and friends. She was born and raised in Gaithersburg, MD where she received her education in the Montgomery County Public School System. Over the years she did daily work, at Rockville and Colesville Cleaners.

Dorothy began her Christian journey at Emory Grove United Methodist Church as a young child and continued as an adult. After she married and moved to Silver Spring, MD she later joined Poplar Grove Baptist Church. When her husband was no longer able to drive her to church, due to health issues, she transferred her membership to Crusader Baptist Church in Rockville. This allowed her access to public transportation to attend worship service and other church functions. She would not let anything come between her and her relationship with God. She loved to fellowship with her church family and sing in the choir.

Dorothy was not a selfish person and was always looking for ways to help others. She dedicated many years of her life to being a foster parent. She loved preparing her favorite foods such as cakes, fried chicken, potato salad and crab cakes for family, friends and her church.

In 1981, she was diagnosed as a diabetic and she decided she would not go on medication but changed her diet and was able to control it by diet rather than medication. When Dorothy was diagnosed with colon cancer, she refused all treatment and said she would let God handle her problems.
When the dementia took over her devoted grandson "Michael" took care of her without ever complaining or saying he was tired.

Survived to cherish her memories are: daughters, Delores Holland (Elwood) and Edna Wilson (Mark); five grandchildren, Elwood Jr, (Chanel), Michael Holland, Dominique, Sharena & Marquetta Wilson; greatgrands, Sanaa, Jayden, Jace, Zahrah, Malia, Mariyah, Amiyah, Skylar, Savion, Marcellus, Josiah, Amari and other relatives and friends.
