Tribute & Message From The Family

Mary Marie Copeland quietly went home with God on February 21, 2018. She was the fourth of seven children born to the late Blanche Rebecca and Raymond David Copeland of Gaithersburg, Maryland. She was born on November 4, 1938.

Mary attended the Montgomery County Public Schools. She graduated in 1956 from Carver High School, which is now the Montgomery County Board of Education, in Rockville, Maryland.

She was employed at Melwood Farm in Gaithersburg, Maryland for 35 years. She later went on to work at Glass Mental Health Home in Ellicott City, Maryland for two years, then retired from Giant Foods of Frederick, Maryland in December 2010.

Her interest included family, gardening, cooking and baking her infamous pound cakes and chocolate chip cookies. Mary was a big Baltimore Orioles fan as well as a lover of the Green Bay Packers.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Michelle and son, Darryl (Heather); two grandchildren, Alexandra and Tyler Copeland; one sister, Bernice Hall (Ronnie) and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and friends. Preceding Mary in death was one sister, Elizabeth Copeland and four brothers, Tom Claggett, Lawrence, Charles and Arthur Copeland.

To Michelle,

I wanted to express my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I smile every time I recall stories you would come to work and tell us about your mom. I have only met her once or twice but feel like I have known her. She was a great mother and raised a fantastic daughter. The bond you shared warmed my heart. Know that I am thinking of you as you prepare for tomorrow's memorial service.

Love you.

Michelle and Darryl,

I've been trying to find the right words to express my condolences of the passing of Auntie Mary. You know God put people in one's life for a reason and a season; I believe that I getting to know my dad's (Lawrence) side of the family in the last 4-6 months was preparing us for this moment. Although I didn't get a chance to meet Auntie Mary face to face, it has been a privilege to getting to know you both. Auntie Mary, over the pass few weekend I have felt your present while spending time with Michelle at home. Your spirit has been all though the house even when I was trying to sleep.

Continue to Rest In Heaven Auntie Mary. I will continue to be a supporter for Michelle and Darryl.

Like Michelle and I always say Love You to the Moon and Back

To my family:

"Tissy' was a life well lived for giving to others. I was 'her child' before she was blessed with Michelle & Darryl. There was nothing that I wanted or needed that she did not supply. I was spoiled and knew it!! I was often the reason for a disagreement with the girls in the house, but always was fully vindicated.

Thank you for all your love and support over the years. I will truly never forget you. May God put on your heavenly wings and fly to his serenity.

Always in my heart

Ms. Copeland was one of the kindest ladies that I knew. I miss her every time I
I walk by her chair at the center. I will never be able to eat a chocolate chip cookie again without thinking of her. I am thankful I got to know her and she will always be in my heart.
